Mix a quirky, sexy young pastry goddess with a self deprecating sense of humour and a body that just can’t go unnoticed, a smart mouthed flapper chic ghost, a stolen locket that just happens to be home sweet home to said ghost and a rich and powerful Mister Bryn Lyons and you get this breath of fresh air, mixed with witchcraft, a feline companion named Mercutio and rituals to get pesky zombies to retreat back to their tombs. Add a few werewolves, a Miss Thang Disco Vampire and a group of colourful locals and you have yourself a delightful read that is funny, a tad risqué and full of imagination.
To fully enjoy this book, you MUST speak southern in your head! I had a few LOL moments doing just this and then pausing to repeat a sentence here and there to myself with the musical twang. I recommend this as a vacation read or a relaxing read. No need for heavy concentration and you easily get right back into the characters and situations and pick up where you’d left off.
I look forward to reading more from this new author.

Prenez une jeune pâtissière talentueuse, drôle et sexy qui sait rire d’elle même et qui a un corps qu’on ne peut ignorer, un chic fantôme des années 20 et qui habite dans un médaillon ancien et un puissant, séduisant et dangereux Monsieur Bryn Lyons et vous obtenez un roman qui est une brise d’air frais assorti d’un mélange de sorcellerie, d’un compagnon félin du nom de Mercutio et de rituels servant à persuader des zombies récalcitrants à retourner à leurs tombes. Ajoutez quelques loups-garous, Une Disco Vampire et un groupe de personnages locaux et vous obtenez ce roman qui est un plaisir à lire, drôle, piquant et débordant d’imagination.
Afin de profiter pleinement de ce roman, vous devez perfectionner votre accent Texan et bien entendre ses inflexions musicales dans votre tête. Je recommande ce roman comme lecture de vacances ou de détente. Pas besoin de grande concentration et on retrouve les personnages et les situations facilement entre chaque séance.
J’ai hâte de lire d’autres œuvres de ce nouvel auteur.
